Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TransDocs at transdocs.ai ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Service Description

TransDocs is an AI-powered PDF translation service. You upload PDF documents, select a target language and AI model, and receive a translated document. Key aspects of the Service include:

  • Smart chunking technology that splits documents into chapter-sized segments for accurate translation
  • Multiple AI model options (Claude, GPT, Gemini) with varying speed, quality, and credit costs
  • Output in PDF or Word format, with optional bilingual side-by-side layout
  • A credit-based system where translations consume credits based on page count and model choice

3. Accounts

  • You must create an account to use the Service. Accounts are authenticated via email magic link or one-time passcode (OTP).
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and the email address associated with it.
  • You must provide accurate and current information. One person or entity per account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the Service.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload documents that contain illegal content, malware, or material that violates the rights of others
  • Translate documents for the purpose of fraud, deception, or impersonation
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or bypass the Service's credit system or security measures
  • Overload our infrastructure with automated bulk requests outside normal usage patterns
  • Resell or redistribute access to the Service without our written permission
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Intellectual Property

  • Your content: You retain all rights to the documents you upload and the translated output. TransDocs does not claim ownership of your content.
  • Our service: The TransDocs name, logo, website, and underlying technology (including our smart chunking algorithms) are our intellectual property.
  • License to process: By uploading a document, you grant us a temporary, limited license to process it solely for the purpose of providing the translation service. This license ends when your file is deleted from our systems.
  • Responsibility: You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to translate the documents you upload. We are not liable for copyright infringement by users.

6. Payment Terms

  • TransDocs offers free and paid subscription plans, as well as one-time add-on credit packs.
  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.
  • Subscription plans renew automatically each billing cycle. You can cancel at any time through your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Monthly credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle. Unused monthly credits do not roll over.
  • Add-on credit packs do not expire and remain available until used.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If a translation fails due to a service error, credits are automatically refunded to your account.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price changes affect their plan.

7. Bring Your Own API Key (BYO Key)

  • You may optionally provide your own API key from supported AI providers (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) to use your own API credits for translations.
  • Your API key is stored encrypted in our database and is used only for your translation requests. We never share your key with other users or third parties.
  • You are responsible for any costs incurred through your own API key. TransDocs does not add any markup to provider charges.
  • You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of the AI provider whose API key you use.
  • You can remove your API key from your account settings at any time.

8. Disclaimers

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • AI-generated translations may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. TransDocs does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of any translation.
  • You should not rely on AI translations for legally binding documents, medical information, or safety-critical content without professional human review.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, updates, or third-party provider issues may cause temporary downtime.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TransDocs and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to TransDocs in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Any remaining credits are forfeited unless otherwise required by law.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law) will remain in effect.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in San Francisco County, California.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
